Experimental Testing
Services
Newell Instruments can run both performance tests and computer simulations and modeling of refrigeration systems.  A brief
description of our facilities is below.
Newell Instruments, Inc. maintains a 4,400 square foot laboratory and
workshop.  Current facilities include three refrigerant flow circulation
systems with liquid flows up to 2 liters/minute and saturation pressure levels
up to 500psi.  Refrigerants can be conditioned to any desired quality level
using the liquid chiller system (6kW thermal capacity at 0C) and 7kW
electric refrigerant heating system. Agilent and Fluke Hydra datalogging
systems are used for data acquisition.  Heat transfer coefficients and
pressure drop under evaporation and condensation conditions can be
measured for a variety of test section configurations.

Newell Instruments also has an environmental chamber for testing full
systems.  The current chamber can be operated in a range of 50F (10C) to
122F (50C).  In addition to the data acquisition capabilities mentioned
above, Newell Instruments has power transducers and a frequency
converter to run 50 Hz refrigeration equipment.

If one of these systems does not meet your needs, Newell Instruments has
the expertise to design and construct a test stand that will.
